End of the Week: Planning to Fail

I was stuck in the Milwaukee airport last night for a while as storms cleared out of the Twin Cities.  A fellow traveler and I struck up a conversation that eventually led him to giving me a great piece of advice:

Plan to fail early and with minimal expense as you search for the right solution.  The right answer will come faster through an iterative process of trial, error, learning, and correction than it will through careful and lengthy initial analysis.

There’s a whole post in there somewhere, but for now it’ll have to be a short piece of end-of-the-week wisdom from a stranger in an airport.
